Product details

The Panoptix PS51-TH FrontVü Multibeam thru-hull transducer is a forward looking sonar. The transducer shows what's in front of your boat and prevents you from running aground. Panoptix FrontVü focuses only on the area in front of the boat with a narrow forward looking transmission cone.
  • Premium FrontVü forward-looking sonar helps you avoid running aground
  • Narrow beam, forward-looking sonar that focuses on the bottom in front of your boat
  • Displays the bottom ahead of your boat in real time
  • Displays depth and water temperature
  • Easy application and integration into the marine network
  • Displays bottom up to 300 feet ahead
  • Delivers nearly instant feedback to give you more time to react
The Panoptix thru-hull transducer with multiple cones and high quality FrontVü echo sounder for forward visibility helps you avoid running aground¹ by displaying the bottom in front of the boat in real time on the chartplotter.

Panoptix FrontVü sonar displays bottom up to 300 feet ahead of the boat (at 8 to 10 times the current depth) and delivers nearly instant feedback to give you more time to react. You can be more confident when navigating unfamiliar water because Panoptix FrontVü has a narrow beam, forward-looking sonar (20 degrees). This allows you to focus on the bottom in front of your boat and not be confused with what is off to each side. It also includes an AHRS sensor for motion stabilisation that allows you to see what is in front of your boat even in rough water conditions. And all the FrontVü forward-looking sonar image data can be easily shared with other chartplotters across the Garmin Marine Network.

Panoptix PS51-TH features a standard 50.88 mm (2-inch) stainless steel thru-hull mount. Displays depth and temperature data, and is compatible with all Panoptix capable Garmin chartplotters.

Compatible with the following devices:
GPSMAP® 8400 series and the GPSMAP 7400 series, GPSMAP 1222xsv Touch series, GPSMAP 1022/1222xsv series, GPSMAP 922/722xs series chartplotters, and ECHOMAP Plus 72cv/72sv/92sv series chartplotter/echo-lot combi units.

Nice while it lasted
Nice while it lasted. Good resolution and reasonable range. However, it failed after 3 years. It just stopped working one day. The transducer gets hot while powered on, nothing else. No physical damage.
Just out of warrant. Garmin's only suggestion is to buy a new transducer.

Great but problematic
Installed correctly, unfortunately it goes wrong in a completely random way.
When I contacted Garmin they were never of any help, in practice the transducer works perfectly except for making errors randomly and totally unmotivated.
In practice, PS51 FAILURE appears on the plotters in full screen and the message remains superimposed, no longer allowing any operation, this message appears on all displays (4) so that during navigation it blocks the entire navionics or if I am navigating I lose cartography, navigationroute and all functions.
The entire system must be turned off and on again, hoping that it does not crash again shortly thereafter.
It is absolutely not a product worth the cost considering that it nullifies all the system redundancy by blocking non-associated functions.
Very bad.
SVB service - always excellent, I will ask them to resolve it given that GARMIN assistance, although contacted several times, was not only unsatisfactory but above all useless (no solution)

Poor quality
It broke down twice within 3 years. Although Garmin replaced it, its poor quality and unreliability made it a bad investment.

4 probes exchanged by after-sales service since 2017
Each time the probe works 1 to 3 years max then only indicates the water temperature. The probe function burns out for no reason. Garmin tells me it has not heard of this kind of problem, and yet....
The assembly is nevertheless very basic The Ethernet socket plugged directly into the Garmin plotter, and the 12V power supply connected to the battery (via a switch to cut it off when the boat is not in use). In short, incomprehensible! The quality is not there for this product which ultimately is absolutely not worth its price.
Exchange in after-sales service out of warranty billed almost €300 excluding tax each time!!!
For me Garmin is finished, there are other plotters just as good and much cheaper for each option.

Dear Robert, unfortunately that is not possible. The Garmin Panoptix transducer is only compatible with Garmin chartplotters. For the moment Raymarine doesn´t offer a forward looking sonar transducer.
