Unique, newly developed vertical windlass. The above deck unit is made completely of bronze chromed and stainless steel . The 8 mm gipsy is usable for chain and rope (diameter 14 mm).
A new development is also the drive. The engine reaches a continuous power of 1000 Watt / 12 V and is able to deliver a short term power of up to 1500 Watts. This results in a maximum pull of up to 500 kg (workload 150 kg). As an additional feature the engine is equipped with two separate windings – this results in an extremely fast downward operation of 40 m/min and a winding speed of 20-40 m/min.
Furthermore, the relay box for up and down operation is included, as well as the sensors for an optional chain counter.
I'm looking to replace my old broken windlass with the Lofrans X2 #10025# . However, I'm a bit worried about the deck plate that apparently is chromed bronze, in my experience chromed stuff tend to lose the chrome sooner or later and for something that lives its life rattling chains at the bow of a boat, I guess that comes sooner. Anyone around here that got experience with this windlass that can either confirm or deny my suspicions? Cheers!
