In AGM batteries, the electrolyte (mixture of water and sulphuric acid) is largely absorbed in glass fibre. This type of battery is entirely maintenance-free and there is no gas formation with normal use. As the battery does not require any ventilation, these batteries can be installed anywhere.
Their construction gives a very fast discharge at very high currents so AGM batteries are ideal for systems that require high currents (for instance when starting an engine). The battery terminals can be unscrewed and this type of battery can be combined with every standard battery terminal.
- Excellent starter function
- Perfect upgrade for wet lead acid batteries
- Glass-fibre technology ensures low internal resistance
- Use of thicker plates extends lifespan
- Also for medium cyclical use

Notes
- Charging the batteries
- Use chargers with IUoUo characteristic, preferably with temperature compensation (-30mV/ºC).
- Recommended charging voltages:
- Equalising charge 14.25V @ 25ºC (max. 5 hours)
- Trickle charge 13.80V @ 25ºC.
- Maximum charge current: 30% of C10 rated capacity.
- The batteries should be fully (100%) charged regularly, at least once a month.
- Discharging the batteries
- Regular discharging of more than 50% of the nominal capacity is not recommended, as this can shorten the life of the battery.
- Avoid deep discharging.
- Recharge the battery immediately after a discharge.
- The battery must never be discharged below the final discharge voltage. Detailed information on this can be found in the operating instructions under "Final discharge voltage".
- Storing the batteries
- Only store the batteries when they are fully charged and in a cool environment.
- High ambient temperatures increase the self-discharge rate.
Detailed information on storage can be found in the operating instructions under "Battery storage".
- Fully recharge the stored batteries when the voltage drops below 12.3 volts.
- Installation
- Recommended torques
- for M8 screw terminals (batteries from 70 Ah): 14.7 to 19.6 Nm.
- for M6 screw terminals (55 Ah battery only): 11 to 14.7 Nm.
- Keep a minimum distance of > 1cm if several batteries are to be placed directly next to each other.
- Mechanical design changes to the 12/130 AGM battery To reduce the risk of acid leakage, Mastervolt has raised the battery terminals of the 12/130 AGM battery.
The outer dimensions of the battery remain unchanged. In the new version the battery poles and the top of the ousing are the same height. Therefore, please allow about 5 - 10 mm additional mounting height for cable lugs, fixing screws or pole terminals. The new version is expected to go on the market from the 4th quarter of 2019.
- In January and March 2020, MASTERVOLT AGM batteries were labelled with incorrect production/batch codes. See data sheet.. This incorrect coding has no effect on the quality and performance of the batteries.
