SUNBEAMsystems Tough G8 Performance solar modules offer more power than comparable models from the Tough series and, thanks to the highly efficient SUNPOWER cells (25.2 % efficiency), are a reliable source of energy even under the most difficult conditions. Due to their impressive technical properties, the Tough-Performance modules are frequently used in the yacht and caravan sector, as well as in private and industrial systems.
The modules are supplied with a full-size 3M adhesive tape, but the modules have no eyelets for fastening.
Higher efficiency and performance
The SUNBEAM Tough G8 Performance series offers more power than comparable models from the SUNBEAM Tough series. The Tough+ series has high-quality SUNPOWER cells, which increase the efficiency of the modules to a total of 25.2%.
5-dimensional layer system
The improved module surface of these modules is extremely durable and resistant to high UV radiation. The material used has better light transmission than conventional materials, and compared to other modules, the physical cell arrangement of these modules ensures a higher output power with partial shading. The surface structure promotes power generation at low light incidence angles and also ensures non-slip properties. In addition, the shock-absorbing layer has been improved, which protects the solar cells and cabling and increases the service life.
Flushed soft junction box
The semi-flexible flush modules, which are only 3 mm thin, have no obstacles or tripping hazards on the module surface due to the absence of junction boxes. Only this type of module allows almost flush mounting.
The electrical connection is made from the rear of the module via an inconspicuous, flat, black double-core cable. The cable can be glued next to the module on dark surfaces / mounting surfaces so that it is almost invisible.
Details at a glance
- Semi-flexible
- High efficiency
- Durable and UV-resistant
- Small size and high performance
- Shadow Optimised: Improved yield characteristics with partial shading
- Yield-enhancing and anti-slip surface structure
- Almost flush mounting (no disruptive connection box on the module surface)
Special technical feature
As the connection cables of the flush modules are routed directly out of the back of the module, there are no integrated blocking/bypass diodes on these modules. On modules with a connection box, these are usually integrated in the connection box.
Bypass / blocking diodes
If required, use bypass/blocking diodes (in accordance with the installation instructions). The Schottky diode F1200D (12A/200V) is suitable for 5 - 350 Wp modules and is available from specialist electronics retailers or from us on request.
For installation, the module connection cables must be routed into a dry installation environment and mounted there together with the diode on suitable terminal blocks, e.g. Art. 47023. With powerful modules, "flying" mounting is not advisable, as the diodes can become quite warm when a module is shaded.
Pay attention to the correct polarity of the diodes! A ring or dot on the diode housing marks the cathode. This must be connected to the PLUS connection of the module.
Important: Incorrect diodes or diodes connected with reversed polarity can damage the solar module.

Mounting instructions
- The Tough Performance solar modules are supplied with a double-sided 3M adhesive pad. The adhesive pad is the easiest and most durable installation method for your Sunbeam solar panel. The 2 mm thick pad covers the entire module size. Important: Please follow the manufacturer's instructions for correct mounting and electrical installation in the enclosed installation manual.
- Do not use modules larger than 50 W on a soft surface. The SUNBEAM Tough Flush solar modules with an output of more than 50 watts are designed for permanent mounting on a hard surface. They can be mounted using adhesive or screws.
- For mobile or temporary use, modules up to 50 W and a fixed connection box are the better choice.
