SUNBEAMsystems Tough G8 solar modules are a reliable source of energy even under the most difficult conditions thanks to the highly efficient SUNPOWER Maxeon cells (22.6% efficiency). The shade-optimised panels impress in the 8th generation with an improved 5-layer structure. Due to their impressive technical properties, the Tough-G8 modules are frequently used in the yacht and caravan sector, as well as in private and industrial off-grid systems.
The modules are supplied with a full-size 3M adhesive tape, but the modules have no eyelets for fastening.
5-dimensional layer system
The improved module surface of these modules is extremely durable and resistant to high UV radiation. The material used has better light transmission than conventional materials, and compared to other modules, the physical cell arrangement of these modules ensures a higher output power with partial shading. The surface structure promotes power generation at low light incidence angles and also ensures non-slip properties. In addition, the shock-absorbing layer has been improved, which protects the solar cells and cabling and increases the service life.
Flushed soft junction box
The semi-flexible flush modules are only 3 mm thin and have no obstacles or tripping hazards on the module surface due to the absence of a junction box. Only this type of module allows almost flush mounting!
The electrical connection is made from the back of the module via an inconspicuous, flat, white double-strand cable (2x 1.6 mm²/approx. 1500 x 5.5 x 2.5 mm) and the cable can be glued almost invisibly next to the module on white surfaces/mounting surfaces.
Details at a glance
- Semi-flexible
- High efficiency
- Durable and UV-resistant
- Small size & high performance
- Shadow Optimised: Improved yield characteristics with partial shading
- Yield-enhancing and anti-slip surface structure
- Almost flush mounting (no disruptive connection box on the module surface)
Special technical feature of flush modules
As the connection cables of the flush modules are routed directly out of the back of the module, there are no integrated blocking/bypass diodes on these modules. (On modules with a connection box, these are usually integrated in the connection box).
Bypass/blocking diodes
If required, use bypass/blocking diodes (in accordance with the installation instructions). The Schottky diode F1200D (12A/200V) is suitable for 5 - 350 Wp modules and is available from specialist electronics retailers or from us on request.
For installation, the module connection cables must be routed into a dry installation environment and mounted there together with the diode on suitable terminal blocks, e.g. Art.
47023. With powerful modules, "flying" mounting is not advisable, as the diodes can become quite warm when a module is shaded.
Pay attention to the correct polarity of the diodes! A ring or dot on the diode housing marks the cathode. This must be connected to the PLUS connection of the module.
Important: Incorrect diodes or diodes connected with reversed polarity can damage the solar module.

Installation instructions
- In the enclosed SUNBEAMsystem installation manual you will find all the relevant information on correct module selection, mounting and electrical installation. You will also find a quick guide with lots of relevant information in the download area.
- A double-sided 3M adhesive tape is included in the scope of delivery for convenient installation. The Tough G8 modules do not have eyelets
- ATTENTION: Only SIKASIL WS605S, SIKAFLEX 298FC or ZETTEX MS POLYMER 25 is approved for bonding the modules in other ways
- Please check the solar modules after receiving the goods or before installing the panels.
- Do not use modules > 50 W on a soft surface.
The SUNBEAM Tough Flush (TF) solar modules with an output of more than 50 watts are designed for permanent installation on a hard surface. They can be mounted using adhesive or screws.
