Unique, newly developed vertical windlass. The above deck unit is made completely of bronze chromed and stainless steel . The 8 mm gipsy is usable for chain and rope (diameter 14 mm).
A new development is also the drive. The engine reaches a continuous power of 1000 Watt / 12 V and is able to deliver a short term power of up to 1500 Watts. This results in a maximum pull of up to 500 kg (workload 150 kg). As an additional feature the engine is equipped with two separate windings – this results in an extremely fast downward operation of 40 m/min and a winding speed of 20-40 m/min.
Furthermore, the relay box for up and down operation is included, as well as the sensors for an optional chain counter.
We are building a 30ft power boat and would like a second opinion about which model windlass we need. The two types we are thinking are both vertically mounted Lofran winches but not sure if we need a x2 or we can get away with using the smaller x1? W would also like to purchase the correct chain / rope anchor rode which ever winch is required. We are currently in the process of mocking up the system as its in a tight anchor locker space and is going to require some anchor sheaves for re directing the rode where its needed. any advice on a good set up for this project would be really appreciated. thanks
Dear customer, please email [email protected] for technical assistance.
Is it possible to turn electric motor installation 90 degrees as described in drawing?
Dear Jere, yes it is possible to turn the engine and the buildup. You have to solve the four screws. Your SVB-team.
Which size of boats are this windless recommended for?
Hi Michael, I have a 44ft Longkeel Sailboat 10BRT, with 80m/8mm galvaniced chain / 25Kg (1.) anchor. Maybee in future I will change the chain to 80m/10mm (changing the chainwheel...) and it will be still a good winch for this job. A was doing the job by hand, the last 7 jears, but I am getting older...fat & lazy...;o)) Important : just mount a battery close to the winch, ohterwise you loose to much power... Greets from the 7 seas Andi
What is that 10mm nut they are talking about wen using DIN776?
Hi Lars, At 6.8 and 13 mm, the dimension chains DIN ISO 766 and 818 are the same. The 10 mm chains -t- partition is different. According to DIN 766, the pitch is only 28 mm, ISO 818 it is 30 millimeters. With finely crafted chain nuts these different sizes can lead to problems (the first 5-6 links are still running well, but then the chain begins to jam). Our Lofrans winches are supplied as standard with DIN 766 chain nuts (with the exception of the windlass Progress II). On request, ISO sprockets are available. We also have 10, 12 and 14 mm ISO-chains in our product range. The drawing you can find here, when you click on "More infos" : https://www.svb24.com/en/category/anchoring-docking-anchors-accessories-anchor-chains-anchor-lines.html
Hey Judith, As fare Iunderstand it, the nut is nut a nut but the nuts at the gyybsy!? Well, I’m shifting my old Lofrans Airon to to a new and hopefully not able to corode as the Airon in Aluminium. I’m running 80 meters of 8mm chain, on the old gybsy it’s printet 8 mm DIN766. So what I need is a gybsy just as good as the old one. Have I done it right to make the note of using DIN766 in my order for the new Windlass. The annoncement tells to do that!? Don’t have any clou about 10 mm nots ore not. It just hase to be the same size of gybsy, if You get me? Best Lars
By the way, Would it be possible to change in to a 10 mm chain if I get that idea a day in the future. Meaning chainging the gybsy and not the holl gear? Best L
Hi Lars, I am not able to call you. You have passed an order for the Lofrans Project X2 with a 8mm gipsy. For your 8mm chain that is correct. It is however not possible to use a 10 mm gipsy with a 8mm chain. For the 8mm gipysy, DIN and ISO are the same. There is only a difference when you are using a 10 mm chain or higher. I put your order on hold, please let us know which Gipsy size you actually want to receive (8mm or 10mm?)
Thanks, Judith. I'm using an 8 mm. chain. My old gibsy is marked with 8mm DIN766 5/16"
And the windlass has to be fitted with a drum/capstan.
Hi Lars, okay the order will be send out today.
