Cleaning ropes:
Please note the following when cleaning/washing polyester and Dyneema ropes:

  • Hand wash (SVB recommendation):
    • Place the rope in a large bucket or bathtub and fill with warm water.
    • Clean the rope thoroughly with your hands.
    • Do not use regular washing powder (you can find a possible alternative here).
    • Do not use fabric softener.
    • Then wash the rope with clean water.
  • Washing machine:
    • Only wash rope in a cotton bag.
    • Wash at a maximum of 30 degrees.

  • Do not tumble dry the rope.

Hi, I find this rope a little "stiff"! Is there any way people have used to soften it? Maybe washing machine with fabric conditioner? Many thanks

Hi Jamie! These ropes are equipped with a special finish to minimise water absorption (similar to the finish on outdoor clothing). If these ropes are treated in the washing machine with washing powder and/or fabric softener, the lubricant washes out and the rope takes on a different feel. We recommend rinsing in clear water (not in the washing machine), especially after use in salt water.

Bought these one. Although not using furling genoa, ropes gave a great touch & grip when dry or wet. Value for money is excellent, although next I ll move to dyneema ones
