Fast and good The use in the large motorhome is optimal and brings a quick heat distribution, thanks to the integrated and adjustable fan with heat output regulation. The self-installation is done quickly with a little manual skill once you have located the appropriate installation location in the vehicle. Depending on how it is placed in the vehicle, the fan noise can be a bit annoying in the high power levels. The minimal fuel consumption does not affect the travel vehicle in any way.

Powerful and Affordable I retrofitted this heater in an old motorhome a few years ago and it convinced me so much in terms of installation, application, quality and price that I am now installing it again in my new motorhome. I can only recommend this product.

Product details

The powerful 4D diesel air heater from Autoterm Air is ideal for larger boats from approx. 7.5 metres. The digital control panel (incl. temperature sensor) makes it very easy to adjust the power levels and control the temperature. The air heater is certified (e2) and can be installed without registration. The hole dimensions are identical to those of the popular Webasto or Erberspächer heaters, so it is easy to replace without having to drill new holes. Delivery includes an altitude kit, an exhaust silencer and all the components needed for installation. A minimum diameter of 90 mm is recommended for connecting hot air pipes. The connection adapter for the warm air side to reduce from 96 mm to the standard dimension of 90 mm, as well as a fuel tank, are not included in the delivery.
The heater's cable harness features a gate input for connecting your own remote control or other secondary control unit. You can choose whether the connection is made via ON/OFF switch or pulse. The advantage of the latter means that it is possible to operate the heater with different controllers. For example, you can switch on with a remote control or a push-button and later adjust power levels or even switch off from your bed using the included control element.
In addition, the air heater is equipped with a so-called altitude kit. Thanks to this altitude kit, the heater automatically reduces the quantity of fuel injected depending on the ambient air pressure. This prevents or drastically reduces the likelihood of the combustion chamber from clogging with carbon particulate in the event of a falling air oxygen content.
Maintenance is not normally necessary. However, to prolong service life the combustion chamber must be allowed to get really hot from time to time to burn off any residues. As a rule, running the heater at full power for at least half an hour once every week or every two weeks is enough to allow the combustion chamber to reach full temperature again.

Supplied with new control unit
The new Comfort Control boasts a modern design and numerous functions, such as three adjustable timers, extended heating modes, fan functions and much more. The intelligent thermostat function, for example, automatically switches the heating on when the temperature falls below a set number and similarly turns it off once a set temperature is reached. Multifunctional rotary knob with grippy rubber coating and OLED display. Small installation dimensions, easy to use, stylish design. Temperature sensor included. The cable length of the control panel is 1.8 metres.

In order to avoid drilling large holes for the connectors when installing the dosing pump wire harness, a connector housing has not been partially installed on one side. It is included with the delivery and can be found in a small bag.

Good and cheap

The heater has only been installed for two months, but so far it is doing an excellent job. The exhaust pipe included in the set is rather short. The suction through the diesel feed pump is also a little cumbersome.

All in all, I am very satisfied and can recommend the product.

good heating

I installed this heater in a van fitted out on a Ducato L4. It heats very well even in negative. It uses very little fuel. In elec, 7A on ignition then 1.5 to 3A depending on the ventilation. On the other hand, the mounting bracket sold separately is essential for a clean and safe assembly. Very disappointed with the control command, the wheel works very badly and the panel comes off its support as soon as you touch it. It's really cheap so what is still sold 90 € alone! Count a good working day to install it.

Good heater

Contrary to other information, the Autoterm does not fit on the Webasto mount. Definitely not on the old Air Top 32 that we replaced.
Otherwise, I would have been happy to hear that the supplied cable for the control unit, at 1.8m, is probably far too short for any boat. Would have saved me an extra lap.

Quality with small flaws

The product description states that the Autoterm fits well as a replacement device for Webasto. Unfortunately, there is no information about which Webasto model. I had a Webasto HL 32 and it has completely different connections and fixings. The display of the control unit is unfortunately a little crooked in its housing. The fan makes a humming noise. Everything is still bearable but a little annoying. The price-performance ratio is still very good.
