Over five evenings, you will gain practical knowledge about tidal navigation and learn how to safely master the most important challenges when sailing with tidal currents.
Thanks to numerous practical tidal exercises and tasks, you will be specifically prepared for your next sailing trip in a tidal area.
The webinar teaches you the following topics:
- Being able to determine the water depth at any time at standard and secondary harbours.
- Reliably determine high and low tide times for every time and every harbour.
- Calculate water depths at sea, over sandbanks, in fairways and in the Wadden Sea at any location.
- Precisely calculate clearance heights under bridges in tidal areas.
- Precisely calculate tidal currents for any day and any time - instead of relying solely on tables that do not provide daily updated values.
- Use current triangles and plan routes for medium and long distances.
- Recognise tidal hazards at an early stage and react to them correctly.
- Assess the influence of air pressure, weather and currents on the tides.
- Use tidal navigation specifically for route planning.
- Use electronic aids sensibly and correctly in tidal navigation.
Important:
The webinar will take place via the Cisco WebEx programme on a total of four evenings from 18:30 to 21:30.
