The gateway is equipped with a standardised RJ45 Ethernet connection. Depending on the vehicle electrical system, an adapter may be required. Direct connection to a PC or laptop is easily possible using a standard Ethernet cable.
The device supports both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 data streams and uses TCP and/or UDP protocols for this purpose. Thanks to the bidirectional converter between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000, all navigation data - including AIS data - can be displayed and processed on the PC.
All types of NMEA sensors, including autopilots, can be conveniently managed using navigation software.
Examples:
- OpenCPN supports NMEA 0183
- Expedition supports both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000
The gateway provides three data servers (TCP/UDP), which can be used to make extensive network and data settings.
Characteristics:
- Flexible IP configuration: static IP, automatic IP assignment or operation as DHCP server
- Compatible with 10 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s and 1000 Mbit/s Ethernet networks
- Integrated galvanic isolation between NMEA 2000 and Ethernet for maximum safety
- Support for mDNS and Bonjour for simple automatic network discovery
- Integrated web server for configuration, firmware updates and web display
- Option to connect two NMEA 2000 network sections to two gateways via Ethernet
- Equipped with a more powerful processor than the previous YDEN-02 model
