Description
Two cylinders instead of one: the VOLVO PENTA 2002 represents the mid-range in VOLVO PENTA’s 2000 series. At 3,200 revolutions per minute, it delivers 18 PS; at idle, the speed is 850 revolutions per minute. When warmed up, the valve clearance is 0.30 millimetres per valve; it is filled with 2.75 litres of 15W40 engine oil, including the filter. In addition to the 2002, the series includes the smaller single-cylinder 2001 and the more powerful three-cylinder 2003, which differ in the number of cylinders and power output but share the same design and fuel injection technology. The 2002 has no electronic components and can therefore be serviced using purely mechanical methods. With 18 PS, it offers more power reserve than the single-cylinder 2001, whilst retaining a compact design and lower weight than the three-cylinder 2003. This combination makes the VOLVO PENTA 2002 a popular main propulsion unit for medium-sized sailing boats.
