The life of a seawater pump is limited, even if maintenance, such as replacing seals and impellers are done regularly. The reason for this is corrosion, which is caused by the constant water exposure to the pump even when the engine is at a standstill, as well as erosion caused by the high flow speed of the seawater inside the pump housing.
