Autopilot EV-100 with P70s I bought this set in Feb. 2019 and used the long winter to build it into my trimaran Corsair Dash2 Bj 2016. Everything you need is delivered nicely packaged in a big box, really great! First you should look and read everything very carefully, then decide where the individual components should be installed and where the cabling should run. Without this little preparatory study, the whole thing will be pretty much nothing I had to purchase and install an additional panel with automatic circuit breakers, for example. After completing (complex) Installation was the commissioning with a 4-page description (only English) but really simple The menu of the P70S is very manageable and made friendly, just click through according to the short description and done then quickly turn a 360 circle on the water with 4Kts, enter deviation and not forgot to enter COMPASS LOCK ON The Tri runs straight upwind through the sea with 70cm waves ..... Great !! Likewise under 55m2 ginaker room wind, waves from diagonally behind ...... very good !! Sure ... this AP costs 3 times as much as the ST1000 or Simrad TP10, for example, but this AP can even take over the control for a long time on the wind with Bft5. With wind turner just quickly enter 10 or -20 The working method is actually always pleasantly quiet (no sawmill) I haven't been able to find any negative characteristics in the last 2 weeks. Conclusion Absolute purchase recommendation for single-handed sailors who sail fast or nervous boats

Wheel pilot 2.0 An old car helmet system was installed on my 34-foot sailboat. The wheel drive, type ST 4000, was constantly on its nerves, even with little waves or wind. Since a linear drive was not an option for reasons of space, I ordered the EH 100 kit. Installation time 4 hours, commissioning 1 hour, change the direction of rotation once, done. The behavior of the new system under the engine, under sail and also in wind and waves is so much better that I can hardly describe it. Simply great, no large rudder deflections, no more shooting into the wind, a real added value. Maintains the course without constant back and forth, which not only benefits the nerves, but also the power consumption.

Even works with the old Simrad drive unit I had the AP24 autopilot from Simrad, which eventually gave up the ghost. The drive unit was still working, though, and since I was switching to Raymarine anyway, I was able to continue using the old drive unit with this autopilot and a Raymarine rudder reference transducer without any major modifications. The boat now holds a more stable course than before, and it can even be controlled from the Axiom chartplotter. The only drawback: There are three steering modes (Performance, Balanced, and Economical), but even on the lowest setting, it still steers quite frequently and prematurely, which is unnecessary in heavy waves and leads to higher power consumption. On the other hand, as mentioned, it holds a more stable course. So, if you already have a drive unit, it saves you a lot of money compared to a complete system.

Precise course control, regardless of the speed and sea conditions.
With the new Autopilot EVOLUTION from Raymarine, steering your boat becomes easier than before. Difficult calibration is no longer necessary. Due to the intelligent EV-sensor, the autopilot monitors multiple ship movements in all directions and automatically adjusts the steering to match existing sea conditions, without the user having to adjust any other settings. Safe arrival at the planned destination is guaranteed. A further big advantage of the autopilot is flexibility of installation. The device itself can be installed where it is easiest for you to access, while the EV-sensor can be mounted where it makes most sense to you, no matter if above or below deck. There are no restrictions concerning the installation compared to common heading sensors. The core of the sensor is water-protected to IPx6 and IPx7. Components are easily connected via SeaTalk and all cables required are included. The autopilot is also NMEA2000 compatible.

Commissioning not entirely without
The mechanical installation and connections are simple, BUT the commissioning should be left to people who are aware of the risks. It says here you shouldn't interrupt the update, but if it does happen my EV-1 sensor is broken right away. You are supposed to use a Micro SD card, but there is no mention here that you can damage the cards with the cards. I now have a new sensor and have a specialist do the commissioning. Just finding the urgently recommended software updates is a matter of experience, because no one tells you that there is only one file for everyone. Unfortunately so far always trouble with Raymarin products
After several attempts over weeks to get the device to not only control snake lines, it then turns out that the wrong software from Raymarin was installed and it cannot work. After installing the new software (3 weeks at a dealer) it still does not work as the promises say. Very good on the wind, straight ahead not possible in the fairway at slow speeds, only a snake line. In my opinion, the manual for software commissioning is too superficial and leaves too many questions unanswered. Hope the device, after I wanted to put it into operation in July 2020, will still get correctly set at the end of September.

Hi, how come that the price differ from your catalouge and online? According to catalouge the price of article 58717 (autopilot) is 2849,95 and online the price is 2993. Best regard

Hi Mikael, the paperversion was printed early 01/2020 with pricing for the german market incl. countryspecific tax. Online you see the same prices, unless you look up from another country. Then you see the prices for the country you are looking/like to purchasing/billing from.
