Safety course - detailed and clear I booked the safety course (World Sailing Approved Offshore Personal Survival Center - formerly ISAF approved) through SVB. The seminar was conducted in March 2025 by Veit Hilger (mtcc - Maritime Training Center Celle). I can highly recommend the seminar, the trainer, the teaching material and the documents provided are very good. I particularly liked the competent manner and the in-depth specialist knowledge, as well as the knowledge transfer by Veit Hilger. The seminar room (at SVB Bremen) and the swimming pool for the practical exercises in Bremen are also good and tidy. I hope that I never have to use the knowledge I have learned at sea, but it was good to deal with all these topics in this way.

Practical and based on experience My wife and I received very well-founded, practical, and experience-based information. Everything else is useless if it hasn't been tested and applied in practice. That's why the training is so valuable. The experiences in the water were incredibly educational. Veit Hilger is extremely competent and spares no effort.

Instructive safety training Informative, comprehensive, educational, and entertaining, the course was presented by speaker Veith Hilger, who supplemented it with his extensive experience and numerous practical examples. It also includes practical exercises that emphasize the importance of having at least basic knowledge of dangerous situations. A recommendation for every water sports enthusiast!

Very informative and practical Veith Hilger is extremely experienced and is able to convey his knowledge excellently. Even for an experienced sailor with well over 10,000 nautical miles under his belt, there was a lot of interesting information to learn and discuss.

A safety course specially developed for sailors and motorboat drivers in coastal and offshore areas, which teaches all the topics needed to be able to control the situation and react correctly in an emergency.

In this World Sailing safety training course, experienced trainers will prepare you for extreme and dangerous situations at sea, familiarise you with the basics of survival at sea and enable you to act effectively and responsibly.

The safety course is World Sailing Approved (World Sailing Approved Offshore Personal Survival Centre - formerly ISAF approved) and is conducted in accordance with these guidelines.

All participants who require a certificate for regattas can take the examination after the seminar. Since 2006, Category 2 regattas, such as the ROLEX Fastnet Race, Helgoland - Edinburgh Race or Pantaenius Rund Skagen Race, require at least 30 per cent of the crew to provide proof of licensed safety training. For category 0 and 1 regattas, every participant must have completed World Sailing Approved Training.

After successfully completing the safety training, you will receive a DSV-licensed certificate for participation in regattas.
